KTA Constitution
Bootakin Kiribati & Tuvalu

1. NAME
The Association shall be known as the Kiribati & Tuvalu Association.

2. EMBLEM
The emblem of the Association, for the purpose of letter headings, complimentary slips, etc, shall be a traditional Kiribati & Tuvalu village hut with coconut trees surrounding it.

3. OBJECTS
The objects of the Association shall be:

  • To foster good relations amongst all those with an association with our small islands;
  • To welcome visitors to these rather bigger islands, and to ensure that they take happy memories home to Kiribati and Tuvalu with them of wider horizons than hotels or bedsits;
  • To be friends with each other, at events organised by the Association, and through the contacts that our gatherings bring about;
  • To teach the younger generation more about our cultures and traditions through dialogue and dance.

4. KIRIBATI & TUVALU DAY
This major annual event in the calendar shall be held on Saturday or over the weekend where appropriate to incorporate the two Independence days: July 12th - Kiribati Independence Day, and October 1st - Tuvalu Independence Day.

5. MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to I-Kiribati and Tuvalu and anybody including I-Matangs who have any connection at all with our islands. Voting rights are one vote per family or individual member.

6. SUBSCRIPTION
The subscription is for the calendar year (1st January - 31st December) and should be paid in advance. If the subscription of any member is more than 18 months overdue, that member will be assumed to have resigned from the Association.

7. THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Association's Annual General Meeting is to be held during the course of the Get-together celebration. Elections for new General Committee members when the 3 year term is up should be done during the AGM by secret ballot.

Any motion by a member affecting the Constitution should be in writing, seconded, and submitted to the Secretary in reasonable time for inclusion in the agenda.

The Treasurer will present the accounts for the year, duly audited, at the Annual General Meeting.

8. AGENDA FOR THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Agenda shall be distributed out to members just before the AGM, and shall include:-

i. Nominations for elections.
ii. Motions submitted affecting the Constitution.
iii. Venue for the next Kiribati & Tuvalu Get-Together.

9. GENERAL COMMITTEE
The General Committee is elected by vote every 3 years at the AGM. They are:-

  • CHAIRPERSON
  • SECRETARY
  • TREASURER
  • CO-TRUSTEE
  • NEWSLETTER PRODUCER/EDITOR
  • DANCE ORGANISER
  • DANCE CO-ORDINATOR

The General Committee so elected, shall administer the Association within resolutions passed at Annual General Meetings. The quorum for the Committee shall be 4 members. In the case of a casual vacancy, the Committee will appoint a temporary member, who may stand for election at the AGM.

10. GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING
A General Committee Meeting may be called by the Chairperson or the Secretary at their own discretion. Otherwise, it shall be held on a quarterly basis.

11. PROPERTY AND MONEY
The General Committee are responsible for management of the property and money of the Association and will report upon this to the AGM each year.

12. APPOINTMENTS
Representatives at other social gatherings where KTA is an affiliated member will be appointed by the General Committee.

i. Assistants to the Dance Organiser & Co-Ordinator will be appointed by the General Committee.
ii. Auditor: The General Committee will appoint an Auditor who will, prior the AGM, examine the completed accounts of the Association, and if satisfied, certify they as correct.

13. TERMINATION OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Association may be brought to an end by resolution carried by a majority of at least two thirds of members attending an AGM. In the event of such a resolution, it will be the responsibility of the General Committee to divide any assets and money of the Association (after all debts of the Association have been discharged) equally between all members whose subscriptions have been duly paid.

14. DATE OF ADOPTION OF THIS CONSTITUTION
This Constitution was adopted by resolution of members present at the AGM held on the 21st July 2001.


BOOTAKIN KIRIBATI & TUVALU

1. TE ARA
Bwa e na kinaaki te Bootaki bwa te "Kiribati & Tuvalu Association" ke "Bootakin Kiribati ao Tuvalu".

2. TE BANNA NI KANIKINAA
Bwa e na kinaaki te banna ni kanikinaa ae tamnein te bareaka ma nii irarikina bwa te banna ni kanikinaa are e na kaboonganaaki ibukin te kororeta ni itoman ma bootaki nako itinanikun ao rinanoaan te KTA.

3. OIN TE IANGOA
Aan ma Oin ana kantaninga te Bootaki bwa:

i. E na kaumakaki ma ni bwainaki te aroaro ma te katei ae raoiroi imarenaia ni bane nakeke iai irekerekeia ma abara aika a tua karako.
ii. E na butimwaiia irua n roko iaon aaba aikai, aikaa a bubura riki, ao ma ni kataia ni kanakoraoa aron aia tai n tiku ikai n te aro bwa a na oki nako Kiribati ke Tuvalu ma te kukurei n uringan tikuia ikai.
iii. Ti na iraorao imarenara ni bane, n tain bootaki ma bukamaru nako aika e bairei te Bootaki, ao man irekereke aikeke a reke rinanon nako, ke man tain ara boobotaki nako ni bukamaru.
iv. A na reireinaki te roroko n rikirake aron ara katei rinanon ara taetae-ni-kawai ma ara mwaie.

4. AIA BONG NI INAOMATA KIRIBATI AO TUVALU
Te bwai ae kakawaki mani kakannato iroura ni katoa ririki n ara karentare, ao e na kakaraoaki ke ni boboaaki n te Kaonobong ke n tokin te wiiki ike e angaraoi, ni ikotii boong ni Inaomata: 12 bongin Turai - Inaomatan Kiribati ao 1 bongin Okitobwa - Inaomatan Tuvalu.

5. KAAINAKIN TE BOOTAKI

6. TE KANRIN
Bwa te kanrin ibukin te ririki (man 1 n Tianuare nakon 31 n Riitembwa), ao e na riai ni kabwakaki imwain ke ni moan te ririki. 7. TE BOOWI N TAABANGAKI
Ana boowi n taabangaki te Bootaki, e na boo n tain ana bong ni bukamaru ibukin te Kainaomata. Rineaia kaain te Taibora, e na karaoaki ni katoa 3 te ririki ni koron aia tai, ao e na karaoaki n tain te bowi n taabangaki n te bebwa n rinerine ae aki ootara.

8. KAOTI MA ATUUN IANGO NAKON TE BOOWI AE TAABANGAKI
E na riai te naan kaoti ke taekan bwaai aikeke ana maroorooakinaki ni kanakoaki ke ni kabutaki nakoia kaain te Bootaki ni bane imwain tain te boowi-n-taabangaki, ao e na riai ni iai iai:

i. Aara ibukin te rinerine.
ii. Kaoti ni kaineti ma Tuan ke Babairen te Bootaki.
iii. Te Tabo are e na booaki iai te bootaki-ni-bukamaru nakon te ririki are imwiina.

9. KAAIN TE TAIBORA
A rineaki ni katoa 3 te ririki n tain te Bootaki ae taabangaki. Aikai bon:

  • TE TIA BABAIRE
  • TE TIA KOROBOKI
  • TE TIA MWANE
  • TE TIA KAUOMANIIA KAWAKINAN TE MWANE
  • TE TIA KARAOA ARA BEEBA-NI-KAONGORAA
  • TE TIA KATAURAOA ARON TE MWAIE
  • TE TIA KANAKORAOA WAAKINAN TE MWAIE

10. ANA BOOWI TE KOMETE

11. ANA BWAI AO ANA MWANE TE BOOTAKI
